Library Foundation: 

History:

The Library Foundation was initiated in 1984 with a bequest of $87,000 from Grace Kermode. Later bequests include $475,000 from the estate of Jess and Mary Doud in l996 and $28,000 from the estate of Richard F. Mullens, Jr. in 2011.

To the greatest extent possible, contributions to the Library Foundation are invested in a professionally-managed portfolio enabling the Library Foundation to provide funds to support a variety of upgrades to services now offered throughout the library system.

These include: state-of-the-art updates to computer and database programs; a Books by Mail service; programs that strengthen library user opportunities for children and young adults; Visionary Voices, featuring guest speakers and cultural events; hosting monthly Art in the Library presentations and receptions; plus many others.

Donate Now:

The Library Foundation has a special public-private relationship with the community, providing individuals and groups a means by which they can give monetary support to one of our most cherished treasures -- The Napa City County Public Library.

Current Needs:

Your contributions to the Library Foundation will help:

  • Continue providing access to subscription databases that would otherwise be inaccessible to the community;
  • Strengthen library services for children and young adults;
  • Support selected library projects that are beyond the reach of the Library's annual budget.

For Your Consideration:

There are a variety of ways to make a gift to the Library Foundation:

  • Monetary gifts may be designated for a specific capital project;
  • A Memorial or Recognition Gift to the Library Foundation that will preserve a memory and bring enjoyment to the community;
  • Include the Library Foundation in your will or as a beneficiary to your lifeinsurance policy and reduce your taxable estate;
  • Make a gift of a cash value life insurance policy to reduce your taxable estate and to obtain immediate income tax benefits;
  • Make a gift of stock or property that has appreciated in value. You are entitled to use the fair market value for tax purposes subject to certain IRS limitations.
  • Make a gift of stock or property by a donation through a charitable remainder trust. This can provide immediate tax benefits, steady income from the trust and provide support for the Library Foundation.
  • Arrange a gift annuity which is both an investment in a secure future for the donor as well as a gift to support the Library Foundation.

The Library Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) organization. You may wish to consult your attorney or tax advisor regarding these considerations.
